Patient of North Gosford’s Braces Makeover

A student from North Gosford came to Central Coast Orthodontics with concerns about the alignment of their teeth. After being referred by their local dentist, they shared their worries about their impacted upper canine and retained baby teeth. This misalignment not only impacted the appearance of their smile but also posed challenges for maintaining good oral hygiene.

The patient wanted to find a solution that would straighten their smile and also ensure proper eruption of their adult teeth. Our team carefully evaluated the patient’s condition and recommended a treatment plan that involved upper and lower braces, with a referral to an dentist for canine exposure.

What Were the Issues With Their Existing Teeth?

  • Impacted upper canine that was preventing proper alignment
  • Retained baby teeth that hindered eruption of adult teeth
  • Misaligned bite and crowding affecting smile aesthetics

What We Did for Their Smile Makeover

  • Fitted upper and lower braces to gradually align the teeth

The Result

Over the course of 27 months, the patient’s teeth were gradually aligned with the help of upper and lower braces. The impacted canine was successfully exposed and aligned, allowing the adult teeth to erupt correctly. The retained baby teeth were removed, clearing the way for the remaining adult teeth to settle into place.

By the end of treatment, the patient had a beautifully aligned smile, and their bite was restored to proper function. The patient was very satisfied with the results, enjoying both the aesthetic improvements and the functional benefits of their new smile.
