On the Central Coast since 1984
At Central Coast Orthodontics, our orthodontic specialists have been taking care of families in our neighbourhood for almost 40 years. It all goes back to 1984 when Dr. Peter Woodward bought the practice from Dr. Gordon Hewlett and then was joined by Dr. Bill Weekes in 1987. During the ‘80s and ‘90s, they had practice locations in Gosford, Terrigal, and Toukley. Dr. Woodward and Dr. Weekes both raised young families in the area and saw many patients go from being teenagers to parents themselves. During this time, they consolidated their operations and operated only from Gosford.
In 2009, they were joined by Dr. Alistair King, who had been a local dentist in the area before completing his orthodontic training at Sydney University. Soon after, they were joined by Dr. Simon Deall, who completed his orthodontic training in Melbourne. Both Dr. Deall and Dr. King were raised and schooled here on the Central Coast, and are now enjoying the process of raising young families in the area, as well.

Dr. Deall and Dr. King are members of the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Royal College of Australian Dental Surgeons, and the International Association of Dental Traumatology. It means they are kept up to date with all the latest research, not only in terms of new technology but also being aware of the best and most appropriate treatment options for a variety of different situations.
Dr. Deall and Dr. King have both been involved in research in orthodontics, and have had their research published in international journals. Dr Deall and Dr King have both also been involved in teaching. Both have been invited to speak at the University of Newcastle Ourimbah Campus, and Dr. King is a current member of the orthodontic training program staff and the clinical supervisor at the University of Sydney, at the Sydney Dental Hospital.

At Central Coast Orthodontics, we are careful to select only the technology proven to help your orthodontic treatment be more comfortable, more efficient, or more cost-effective.
We make a conscious decision not to become early adopters of every single new idea that comes out, as the reality is that they are not always proven to be worthwhile once thorough research has been undertaken by an independent body.
For example, some of the technology we have decided to incorporate includes SureSmile, which allows 3D positioning and robotic wire-bending to create a more efficient and precise treatment finish. Aligners are also an ever-growing area of technology, and we are finding that more and more patients are choosing this as a treatment option over braces as time goes by.
We have also begun to incorporate some remote monitoring of patients. It means we are able to keep a closer eye on the teeth as treatment progresses in addition to avoiding unnecessary visits, which means less time needs to be taken out of your school or work life.
