Ceramic Braces Gosford, Erina, Central Coast
If you need your teeth straightened but prefer a less noticeable option than metal braces, ceramic braces at Central Coast Orthodontics might be right for you. Ceramic braces are low profile braces that are either clear or tooth coloured so they blend in with your natural teeth. This is ideal for people who may feel self-conscious wearing metal braces.
Benefits of Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are also called clear braces and are an orthodontic option to straighten teeth. They are created with a tooth-coloured or clear ceramic material that blends in with teeth, and in some cases, tooth-coloured wires may make your braces even less noticeable.
Here are some of the benefits of ceramic braces:
They often straighten teeth faster than clear aligners
Low profile and discreet orthodontic solution
Won’t be very noticeable in photos or on social media
Comfortable in the mouth thanks to ceramic materials and rounded brackets
Do not easily stain
Latest technology in ceramic braces has been refined for maximum durability
Along with the benefits, there are a few drawbacks to ceramic braces. For example, treatment time may take a bit longer because of the need for smaller adjustments. They are less durable than metal, because of the material, and they are a bit larger than metal braces so it may be more of a challenge to brush around them. But if you would like to learn more about ceramic braces at Gosford, Erina and Central Coast Orthodontics, we will be happy to do an evaluation and see if they are right for you.
Benefits of Straight Teeth
Benefits of Straight Teeth
Having straight teeth not only makes you feel like smiling more, but can improve your oral health. Straighter teeth have fewer hidden spaces for food particles to hide and are often easier to brush, which can lessen your risk for tooth decay and gum disease.
Straight teeth can also prevent future problems like tooth damage and jaw strain, which can take place when your bite is off. And thanks to easier chewing, there is less wear on teeth and a reduced risk of dental injuries.

Caring for Ceramic Braces
Caring and maintenance for ceramic braces are similar to caring for traditional braces. They require daily care with regular brushing and flossing, and follow through with orthodontic appointments. Ceramic braces may stain, so doing your part to help them stay clean can go a long way in helping them remain discreet on your teeth.
The following are some general guidelines when caring for your ceramic braces:
Brush your teeth at least twice each day
Floss every day to remove food particles trapped between teeth
Use an oral irrigator to clean between teeth and around braces
Avoid regular consumption of foods and beverages that stain like curries, red wine, tea and coffee
Use a reusable straw to avoid staining beverages from touching your teeth
Do not smoke, it will stain your teeth and your ceramic braces
