CCO Patient: Orthodontic Treatment in Wyong

We want to share with you the Orthodontic journey of our 17-year-old patient from Wyong.

His dentist referred him to have orthodontic treatment because of dental crowding. His parents decided to bring him to Central Coast Orthodontics because we previously treated his siblings, and they were very happy with the outcome.

During his initial consultation, he mentioned how he didn’t like the appearance of his front teeth. He had overcrowding which may be due to several factors such as the size of teeth, jaw and even genetics. His upper canines came out higher than where they should ideally be. Aside from that, he had lower crowding due to the over retention of baby teeth.

Over-retained baby teeth are primary teeth that remain in place for more than a year after they are supposed to fall out naturally. This may cause a child’s permanent tooth to come out in weird spots –just like what happened to this patient.

First, we had to remove his over-retained baby teeth through tooth extractions. Then we, together with his parents, decided to place upper and lower braces to close the gaps and fix the alignment of his teeth.

What Were the Issues with His Existing Teeth?

  • Overcrowding
  • Over-retained baby teeth
  • Upper canines came out too high

What We Did for His Smile Makeover

The Result

After a year of wearing braces, we have successfully straightened his teeth and corrected his bite. We were able to move his upper canines to their ideal position.

Our patient was delighted with the result and felt confident showing off his new smile!
